Sixers Thread III: the Search for a Fifth Starter

Fultz is 20 years old. He's shown flashes of immense talent. What's the rush?

The team got Butler, and is poised to make a run this year. If healthy, we could be a factor in playoffs.

I want all of you, especially those over 30 yrs old to remember when you were 20 and who you were as a person and where your body was?

With a hypnotist and practicing with a blindfold and the right kind of personal coach - can rid the yips - and have a nice career. This guy could be really good. What do we lose if we give him away for nothing? What do we gain? Is there a case that it sets up another opportunity in a series of steps?

The rush is the window to add another max player is closing so you need to dump him or hope he someday becomes a star.

This type of game illustrates that while we are really good, we are a notch below title contenders. Buyout guys will help but ultimately they have to get a stud in FA.

Toronto is easily the best team in the East if Kawhi plays at an MVP level like he has all season.

I mean really folks...The Process worked and that's all that matters.

Turns out that Butler was our third star instead of Fultz.

Regardless, the turnaround over the past six years has been phenomenal.

i recommend a breakout fultz-dead-horse-beating thread [sub-threads: (1) is fultz a dead horse? (2) should we keep beating him?] to make life easier for those of us who drop in on this thread just to catch up on news and opinions about the guys who actually play or might play for the 2018-19 sixers.

Those are Embiid’s point totals in the last 5 games. Is he hitting single digits in the next one?

He didn't look good last night. Either due for a game off or sick?

So the Sixers need FOUR studs to compete? Not buying it. Toronto and Boston get by with 1 1/2 studs each. There's more to this. One, the Sixers studs are young and still have improving to do. The NBA has always been a league where you gradually work your way up. Two, these others teams play better team defense. Not sure if that's a coaching thing or a personnel thing.

I'm afraid for the team to get too top heavy of they throw all their cap space at a 30 MIL player.

What were his minutes in those ones? One of those was the blowout against knicks where he wasn’t neede as much.

Second, some of this mag be byproduct of getting butler more involved.

We need more depth and slight upgrades at backup forward positions.

The offensive rebounds were frustrating AF and the difference in that game. We also looked a bit slow at times which I’m guessing was due to Toronto’s defense. Toronto is a good team that is relatively unchanged year over year. Lots of minutes together.

Honestly we only have 4 guys that are reasonable and actual playoff rotation players. Maybe 5 with TJ. That is beyond top heavy.

We need a backup big, a wing rotation player who is a plus defender, and someone who can defend small guards. Those last two guys need to also be able to hit spot up threes. If we can find a way to patch those three holes, we’re dangerous.

Pretty soon he'll be in the negatives, only scoring in the opponent's basket.

Ironically, this is the exact scenario that The Process was supposed to avoid.

Getting stuck in that space is the scenario we were avoiding. We have room to grow still.
