assume there is a minimum ab aspect to this:

Chase Utley became the first player this century to get through a season without grounding into a double play. Bill James Handbook 2017

IIRC, he made the last outs at The Vet with a GIDP. But as I recall he busted his ass down the line - I knew then and there he'd be special.

This bothers me.

Game's not over until the last out. I support stealing second there. Chase probably just wanted to get hit so he could rally the team for the rest of the series.

I misunderstood originally and thought he told the guy to drill the kid, not himself.

The nipple clamps while sliding head first unnecessarily make more sense now too.

heh

“He just told me that was a long fly ball, that he was Chase and try to get some outs,” Buehler said afterwards.

Asked after the game if he had actually introduced himself to his team’s pitcher in mid-inning, Utley just smiled, said “See you guys” and walked away.

“That was a good mound visit right there from Chase,” Roberts said with a laugh. “So he introduced himself and he (Buehler) proceeded to get a pop up. So whatever he said, the introduction worked.

“Never seen that one.”

down to him and chooch as far as last men standing position players from the glory days.

i think barring injury cole will stick around the longest - still dealing. i don't pay enough attention to know if any of the relievers are still hanging around anywhere.

Werth is in the last year of his deal. Blanton signed with the Nats after he revived his career as a reliever. Kendrick is TRYING to hang onto the majors. Happ is with the Blue Jays. Rollins was just informed he wasn't going to make the Giants. Then there's the guys you mentioned. That's it as far as 2008 is concerned.

Ryan Howard is in the best shape of his life, so it's only a matter of time.
