Whatever it was looked gross and no pressure could be put on it. Maybe a broken ankle so not the whole season? I dunno.

torn acl. great for the phils, disastrous for my fantasy team.

KR is on to something here and so is John Smoltz. Readers can dislike these guys if they want but there is a point here with the over emphasis of velocity. Throw hard as long as you can; work off season to get stronger to throw/over throw as hard as you can; blow up in four or five seasons.
Good pitchers are not easily replaced. Organizations, like the Mets, who abuse or allow the pitchers to abuse themselves over raw velocity, are sad. Its not only with the starters, the relievers are falling onto the same category-throw hard for an inning every other day and blow out the arm in a season or two. Organizations can't keep wrecking their major assets at the rate that they are.
Sure I loved watching Sandy Koufax blow guys away but, sadly, it only lasted for a short time (six seasons) and he was finished at thirty years old. Perhaps it started with LaRussa and the Cardinals but it needs to stop. There have been too many guys done too soon in the velocity wreck.

interesting article from february where Nolan Ryan's old pitching coach predicted Syndergaard would get injured because he didn't pitch while building muscle like old Nolan used to do. http://www.northjersey.com/story/sports ... /98052410/

Cespedes also claimed he gained about 15 lbs of muscle over the offseason, and promptly now has hammy problems.

why are they beefing up
I confess that I have never seen Markelle Fultz play a basketball game and I was not at his 76ers workout Saturday in Camden

Britton is probably near to finished as a closer now. Guys who can do what he did don't grow on trees. Good luck to the O's in finding a replacement. Organizations can't keep banging away on there RPs for 65+/- appearances year after year and expect it to work out well long term yet they do it time and time again.

Less than 24 hours after Olney tweeted this:

Buster_ESPN
Freddie Freeman on pace for: 204 hits, 116 walks, 148 runs, 60 homers, 116 XBH.

Freeman was HBP on the left hand/wrist, left the game and x-rays are "inconclusive"

Now on pace for not much.
Teams lie, sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad. They do it to get an advantage while they look at the trade market or just because they can
