We have like 5 OFers we need to find out about so I have no idea why we're giving this many ABs to both Saunders and Kendrick. As has been shown with Franco and Herrera and Joseph, you need to really give players a full year (at least) of ABs to see if they are going to be any good. We've been kicking the can down the road all season. Time to find out about some guys.

it just seems so weird for the bloggers and experts say things like 'well if they wait until august 1st, then they'll have player ___ under arbitration until 2021 and not 2020' and i'm sitting here like 'trump and putin are gonna push the button in like 2019 and i can't watch colonel saunders anymore, c'mon guys'

His stats after the AS game last season are horrible. Add to that his awful play this season and you have a season of time that merits being let go. Minus WAR. Knowing the Phillies, they'll probably keep him around until the AS break.

Before Odubel started to hit some more I was thinking about Perkins to platoon with him then I looked at Herrera's splits and he's killin' lefties this season. He's lousy against RH pitching this year.

Odubel is quite an interesting fella.

at this point I'd cut bait with Saunders in about two weeks if he doesn't pick it up. he's not going to fetch anything on the trade market. i don't think Perkins is any good, but let's at least give him a tour up here to show us something. Nava/Herrera/Altherr with Perkins as the 4th guy would work for me through the deadline.

If something is done with Saunders I hope they give Perkins a look. Don't think anyone else is ready and we can find out how Perkins performs in a part time role. Could find a cheap bench player who can handle 1B and OF for the next few years.

I think Perkins has earned a shot and can very well perform in the matter described, however I'm more concerned about finding that middle of the order left handed bat.

1. Williams
2. Cozens
3. Pullin

Why not Perkins? He has hit the ball fairly well except for 2015 in Reading when he was marginal. Good defense but little pop in his bat. When the team straightens things out a bit with its roster, he'd be a bench player. For this season, why not play him to see if he could be a Greg Gross type of player. If he shows well, maybe he could be moved for something more valuable to the Phillies.

Dont really care what we do with Saunders, but Williams has been pretty terrible for the past two years. Im super happy he's finally showing some signs of life, but no need to rush him. If he's really turned a corner, let him keep building confidence in the minors. He's going to have to learn some discipline to be successful at the next level anyway.
