Seeing this did remind me of one thing-Harper will cost us(or whoever signs him) a draft pick, Machado will not.

Whispers are that Kris Bryant turned down a $200m extension and the Cubs may be considering moving him. Good news for us. The more marquee players available, the better.
I hate signatures, but I love irony.

If it were an actual fact being reported, it would not be whispered. All facts start out as whispers, but not all whispers turn into facts.

Joel
‏David Kaplan says the cubs might trade Kris Bryant since he allegedly turned down a big extension.

I read a tribune article projecting which cubs players don't return for '19. Of those mentioned I'm in on both Schwarber and Happ.

No way Boras would let him take that. He also turned down an extension last year as well. He's not a free agent until 2022 so I have no idea why they would move him now.

My takeaway from that is, it would make them a less likely destination for Harper, if Bryant's not there.

Or, maybe Bryant is waiting to see what Harper does before committing long term.
