I kind of hate them both at this point.

Money already came in on Phillies on BetOnline so now they’re +150 and with the best odds. Just like that.

Both will sign with the Phillies on March 4th just so I can't enjoy the moment.
Drunk and stupid is no way to be remembered but it is an easy way to forget.

But I took them away from all that. Now they work for me.

If/when the Phillies land one of them, I think they are going to poke their head in and try to get the other on a 5 year deal with opt outs after a few. I've said all along they haven't closed the door on signing both, but it isn't the dollars, it's the years. The Phillies aren't really comfortable about giving two players 8-10 year contracts, and frankly, I can't blame them. I mean, I'd take the risk, but it's easy for me to say that sitting here in an armchair. If one or both break down once they cross 30, they will have potentially 60-70 million dollars a year tied up in dead weight. That is crippling.

Which is why I still consider both unlikely, but definitely not impossible.

I think we get both.

If I'm betting, it's Harper on Friday, Machado on Monday. Klentak spends all of spring training dealing excess batz for pitching.

Philly is the epicenter of the sports world for a full calendar year, if not beyond.

Getting both would be crazy. I really think it's unlikely, but I would enjoy being surprised.

I honestly think if they were getting both something would have leaked, think that is too big of a secret to keep for all parties.

Heard they're both going to take a gap year and backpack around Europe.

Seems like it would be easier to keep a secret as opposed to them going to different teams. There are only three parties in the first scenario (Harper, Machado, Phillies). Four in the latter.

I think we'll get Harper but if not we will overpay significantly for Machado

But if we only sign one and it happens to be the one who breaks, we're out the money and we suck on field. But I do think there's something scary about locking up two guys who have never played together, nor on your own team of course, for that length of time. Still hope it's possible but probably not happening.
