Is this Realmuto life? Phillies acquire JT

Here's a link to the awful Ringer story.

https://www.theringer.com/mlb/2019/2/7/ ... to-sanchez

I stopped reading at
Seeing a trade like this, in which a fringe contender pays through the nose for a marginal upgrade, in which one side so entirely fleeces the other
Drunk and stupid is no way to be remembered but it is an easy way to forget.

But I took them away from all that. Now they work for me.

Hard pass. I don’t need an article from a Boston site to know this was a great trade and a precursor to a mega signing.

Philly is so far in Boston’s head in every major sport, it’s hilarious. I guess they’re jealous we don’t have to cheat to win championships.

The idea we got fleeced by offering a guy with 1 MLB season and another with an arm injury and 0 MLB seasons for an All Star entering his prime is ridiculous.

Yeah, I mean I wasn’t into spending a lot of money/assets on the position from a philosophical standpoint, but we didn’t get fleeced. It’s fair value imo.

We have added very good players this offseason. Our lineup is immensely better before even adding machado and or Bryce.

Such an anti Philly site

I wrote a really good post but my laptop spazzed before I could post.

Bottom line: great trade!

My deep analysis is that the catcher we got is better than the catcher we gave them, and while the other guys we gave them may eventually be good, we might have other good guys by then.
Which part? And who are you?

One of the funniest things was that this story and the Ringer story popped up like three tweets apart on my feed. The Ringer story proclaimed that this was a great fleecing, while the Fangraphs story said it was arguably on the same level of getting Harper or Machado in terms of impact.

We will never miss Alfaro. Could stick around the league as a backup but won’t hit given hacking and terrible pitch recognition. and certainly not a defensive whiz

I only know sixto as an abstract idea but if he’s 80% as good as we all hoped, sucks to lose a guy like that

Realmuto is a stud but there is some variance to his offensive profile and we only get him 2 yrs

Massive upgrade to next years team though if he stays healthy

Get machado, trade Franco for some prospects and it’s a very strong offszn. If not, meh

Best outcome from this trade, no fan, exec, or player would say there is still a reason to spend on Harper and Machado.

If the Phils came up with another 4 WAR, and saved for trout, I would be fine with that.

Keuchel, Kimbrel and save for Trout.

The Phils could win it all then pick up Trout and win more if they add Keuchel and Kimbrel.
