Very cool. I enjoyed this one. I was too young at the time to comprehend what John Daly actually was, so getting inside the persona filled all that in.

The XFL one is on tonight at 9. It should be a good one.

It was alright. The USFL one was better. Maybe we just knew too much about the XFL--it wasn't like the show revealed much new information other than the generator truck running out of gas for that one game. But Vince basically suggesting that the league would've caught on if the truck hadn't run out of gas is LOL-worthy. It failed because it was crude, terrible quality, and insufficiently planned.

the 30 for 30 was more spectacle than punch, much like the league itself. most of the focus was on vince and dick. i liked the xfl at the time but i was a youngin' looking for entertainment, and they gave it to me. they should do it again, the NFL is lame af

I thought about the XFL for the first time in I don't know how long yesterday, and now here we are. Weird how that happens. Will have to record it whenever they run it again.

The XFL was stupid, however - unlike the USFL.

not a 30 for 30 but...
After years of rumors, André the Giant is finally getting his documentary close-up.

On Monday HBO announced it has commissioned a film on the legendary professional wrestler, which will be co-produced by HBO Sports, the WWE and the Bill Simmons Media Group. It’s the first partnership between HBO and the WWE on a project. The doc also represents the first HBO project for Simmons since his show, Any Given Wednesday, was canceled in November. There is no release date for the film at this time.

Got sucked into a second viewing, after hearing the director on a Ringer pod.

One of the technical things that struck me was how powerfully they used the crime scene footage. They're stomach turning the first time you see them. But they saved the really bad images for later -- when Ron Shipp was talking about having seen them, motivating him to testify, and your stomach turns again

Still think they kind of yadda yadda his emotional downfall, in the context of it being 7 hours, but man this thing is gripping

It was more of a traditional sports documentary than the original 30 for 30s, but I loved it. Not only for the Lakers Celtics stuff but background on the league in the 60s, 70s and 80s. The Sixers winning it all in '83 was relegated to one of those commercial snippets, FYI, so be careful not to miss

Also enjoyed the "Yankees Suck" pod
