BSG Money League 2011 (discussion)

2010 thread

OK, so welcome back to year 3 of the BSG keeper league. We had to make a bunch of changes after year 1, transitioning from CBS (where Floppy paid money to host the league) to Yahoo (which we use for free). Check out the league page (link) for the settings. Here’s the main info:

6x6 head-to-head league.

Categories: OBP, R, 2B, HR, RBI, SB, W, SV, HLD, K, ERA, WHIP
Roster spots: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, OF, OF, OF, Util, P, P, P, P, P, P, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL

$50 entrance fee, payable to paypal that is given in the PM I sent. If you prefer another form of payment, PM me. Payout structure last year:

1st, regular season = $180
2nd, regular season = $70

1st playoffs = $210
2nd playoffs = $90
3rd playoffs = $50

Auction budget is $265. Yahoo does not operate a salary cap past the initial drafting. So, once the draft has occurred, you can trade a $30 player for a $5 player without worrying about whether your roster is carrying more than $265 worth of players.

Each team can keep up to 4 players from the previous year, at a cost of $4 more than their draft cost from that year. Undrafted players are assumed to have a draft salary of $1, and can be kept for $5. Note: a player drafted, then dropped, still retains his draft cost.

Waiver budget is $100 for the entire season. Free agents are picked up for free. Maximum of 6 acquisitions per week.

Trade review is through the commissioner (me). Trades are basically approved after 2 days, unless a bunch of people object due to collusion concerns or other outrageousness. There were a bunch of trades last year, and not one was objected to by a single member.

DRAFT TIME IS SET TO 7PM ON SUNDAY, MARCH 6.

Keepers are due 11:59 PM March 4th. If you don’t get them in by then, you don’t get to keep anybody. Keepers can be posted to the messageboard or PMed to me if you prefer privacy. I need to manually input them, that’s why I request them 2 days early.

Possible rule changes:

DL spots from 2 to 3.

Change to payout structure?

Draft time appears good to go.

More or fewer bench spots... 7 currently.

Minimum IP per week is 15. Raise to 20?

I like the idea of raising the DL spots. And changing the IP to 20 sounds good to me, too.

The latter is just a preference. The DL thing just seems more fair.

I'm good for raising the IP threshold. Don't really care about the DL, any number is fair. Against adding more bench spots.

in favor of adding 1 extra dl spot
against raising the IP limit

dont care strongly enough on either to make a fuss.

im just planning on breaking faces this year.

3 DL would be nice
bench # is fine as is.
never noticed any problems with the innings limit so 15 is fine

I wouldn't mind 20 IP. The league is slightly biased towards relievers, and that would prevent people from totally abusing it.

Don't want a bigger bench.

I have no preference on IP.

Wouldn't mind a discussion on payout structure. My suggestion would be to only give the playoff winner money since it can be such a crap shoot at that point. Maybe more emphasis on regular season?

Note: I don't know your real names. So when "Henry Rowengartner" sends me money, let me know who you are on here/team name.
