I was at the game, so never got to hear a report: was Pedro on a pitch count tonight, or was he pulled for some other reason? His PC was around 85 (?) after 4, and the Phillies took the lead then, so I thought they'd at least try to let him pitch the 5th to be eligible for the W.

As it is, do we think Pedro will be in the rotation for the playoffs?

The only way that could get better is if Werth was blowing a smoke ring.

Jason Werth was smoking a big old fat cigar after the game (blunt?), and it was a picture of the smoke coming out of him. Pretty fantastic stuff.

When Charlie brought in Lidge in the 9th, I was thinking it was an incredibly classy move, but after further reflection I think it could have seemed patronizing from Brad's perspective. I mean, they had a seven-run lead. Charlie couldn't trust Lidge to get through an inning without giving up seven runs?

Did Gudel or anyone get Lidge's thoughts on it after the game?

I'm not sure whether Werth is putting the bottle in Amaro's hand or trying to take it from him.

The Phils are in some pretty elite company. Just did some counting.

Teams that have three-peated in the division:

Yankees (1976-78, 1998-2006)
Blue Jays (1991-93)
Orioles (1969-71)
Indians (1995-99)
Twins (2002-04)
Royals (1976-78)
Angels (2007-09)
A's (1971-75, 1988-90)
Braves (1991-93 [West], 1995-2005 [East])
Phils (1976-78, 2007-09)
Pirates (1970-72, 1990-92)
Cardinals (2000-02, 2004-06)
Astros (1997-99)

As you can see, the Phils are one of only six teams to have multiple three-year (or more) stints. One of five if you count the Braves run as one, despite the strike year in 1994 and switching divisions.

Over the last 30 years, Phillies 2 championships are second (although tied with several teams) to the Yankees for most WS. Factoring in pennants and the Phillies are tied with St. Louis with 4 (out of the 2-time champions since 1979).

Looking at it this way, Phils may only be second to the Yankees as the best franchise of the last 30 years. This doesn't include what may play out this year obviously.
