Fantasy Football discussion thread 2014

TraderDave wrote:I'll kick things off this season with the following query - Kaepernick @ $21 or Foles @ $11?

I think I can use either of them to land Kendell Wright @$13 AND Michael Floyd @ $16. If so, my pre-auction roster would look like:

QB - Foles or Kaepernick
RB - Bernard ($34) / Lacy ($27)
WR - Patterson ($17) / Wright / Floyd
TE - Maybe Reed ($11)

Without Reed, I would have $82 to target a TE (Graham will be available)/K/DST and backups. Another thought is to not hold Patterson and try to get him back cheaper or focus my $99 on Graham and an elite WR (nearly all of the top WRs should be available) and then fill in around the edges. I would likely have little to no depth in that scenario though. I do like Patterson however and he may offer incredible value at $17 compared to the elites who may put up 50-70 more points but at a cost at least 2x - 2.5x. I think an 80 catch - 1,100 total yard - 9 td season is totally doable.

I think Foles will still be a really productive fantasy QB, but he will see some good defenses this year and may have a couple single-digit games. The Eagles in general are risky besides McCoy, they spread the ball around so much. I think the defense might actually have some value, especially in this division.

Foles all day. Kaepernick is not as good as Foles and does not have as good of an offense around him.

One of my rules for keepers in auctions is almost always throwing back expensive players who are at or close to market value and keeping the real values. Yeah, Calvin Johnson may be awesome, but if he's $55 as a keeper and Michael Floyd is $2, I'd rather keep Floyd and try my luck at getting Calvin or another stud in the auction with the money I'm saving.

As for your question, I'd absolutely keep Foles at $11. I think $21 is too much to spend on a QB in an auction... is this 12-team?

Kept Andrew Luck. I'm not in a PPR league, so WR aren't as in demand as far as keepers go. I need a damn good RB though, and I need 3 (2 starters and 1 reserve). Forte, Lacy, McCoy already gone.
Piss off.

What does everyone think of Joique Bell in a PPR league? I'm thinking of making him one my keepers with a 10th round hold. He's productive as is, but if Bush goes down he could be a top 5 running back in a PPR league IMO.

Love him. Also the goal line back. Definite target for me.

Got the 8th pick in a ten team snake ppr. Thinking about Megatron there and maybe Rodgers at 13. Crossing fingers

Would not take a QB anywhere near that early in a 10-tm league

for some reason, i always tend to go WR-WR in PPR. calvin/julio would be pretty awesome.

I stole him in my auction keeper as a $1 guy. Pretty thrilled with that turn of events. I think the closer we get to the season, the higher he goes in drafts.

Trying to trade for Garçon so that I have three WR/TE's as keepers going into this season in a PPR league.

We get four keepers, as of right now mine are Foles, Jordy Nelson and Julius Thomas.
