I think the Tommy album is the Christmas gift I still remember most fondly.
Which part? And who are you?

I like the Who. Also the Beatles and the Stones.

But my favorite band has been and still is Steely Dan.

The Doors really don't belong in this conversation.

Quadrophenia is the best Who album. Who's Next is the second best.

Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy isn't a real album, but it's really good too.

Y on Quadrophenia.

Was never really enamored with Live at Leeds, and having recently finished Roger's autobio, I feel I am vindicated since Roger doesn't think it's great either

let me preface by saying, i don't care about old rock from 50 years ago much at this point - but even I still have all my Zep albums on vinyl, from Zep 1, to Presence. The stuff after that wasn't great.

In total, Zep beats all other "rock" or "hard rock" bands because Robert Plant had the best voice, they wrote more good songs, had more great albums and were part of the era where the music was being invented. Daltry and Jagger and Morrison could not touch Robert Plant at his peak.

It's not even close.

I used to be a huge Led Zeppelin fan between about ages 18-20. They were just about the only thing I listened to. Then seemingly overnight I just got sick of them. There’s a few songs of theirs that I still enjoy listening to if I happen to hear it somewhere, but otherwise I kind of can’t stand them, and don’t even have any of their songs anymore. Plant’s voice was atrocious after the first 3-4 albums.

Never felt anything one way or the other about The Who.

Went to way to many final tours. Thank god I skipped the last one.
