funny, i'm doing one of those 'great courses' audio thingys on critical thinking. One of the examples he uses for a classic occam's razor case is the vaccination scare and how improbable it is for it to be true.

it's pretty scary watching some new parents. my wife's friend believes almost everything she reads without doing research, sometimes just seeing a headline on another person's fb feed and just believing it without any research or anything. she's not as bad as the anti-vac people, but sometimes i just can't believe it (said the guy afraid of rabies)

I don't think this is typically the same crowd as the gluten/fad people, though. This is a subset of some of the stupidest people I've seen. They really don't understand how anything works and just follow really idiotic people

The obvious take away is that not getting vaccines is definitely unsafe--polio and whooping cough are no joke.

Katie Couric is pretty dumb. Not sure why she is a TV person. Maybe being dumb is an asset for what she has done.

brother's wife is one of these people. truly insane, her kids are never not sick. once they were in some program that mandated all kids have their up-to-date vaccinations and boy did that not go over well.

Vegas odds show TP, PtK, and karn as early favorites.
Quick Google shows that GoGo is wrong with regards to the Kiwi and the Banana.

Originally I was just going to say "Preach, brother td" because if there was one thing that used to fire me up were people who didn't vaccinate. But after reading the article, I have a question: How does some idiot not vaccinating their child affect me if I have vaccinated my kids? The article states that they put the public's health at risk. How? I was under the impression they just put their kids' health at risk (which is already enough for me to want to mettle).

I had two people at work debating whether or not to get their kids vaccinated. If this was a message board, I would have totally questioned their intelligence/manhood and anything else necessary to make them feel like less of a human (basically the same way I take Ben Revere supporters on), but it wasn't so I had to try and appeal to reason and scientific studies. Much less rewarding but I think at least one of them ended up getting the vaccinations.

The more prevalent a virus is in the populace, the more likely it is to mutate in such a way as to reduce the efficacy of the vaccine.
