If you're looking for a stop between Charlotte and Carlsbad, you might consider Mammoth Cave in Kentucky.

I know you'll have an RV, but you can stay here!

http://wigwamvillage.com/

That would probably mean ultimately taking I 40 rather than I 20. I 40 through Tennessee is not really fun, but once you pass Little Rock, it's better than I 20. (You avoid Dallas for one, and you'll go through the Arkansas River Valley between the Ouchita and the Ozark Mountains.

This looks awesome.

If you want to see the redwoods and Crater Lake (both of which I highly recommend) plan on at least two additional days between Yosemite and Rainier.

Starting to think about moving there. Real estate is pricey, but it probably is worth it.

Definitely spending another day in La Jolla and attending the Padres's Opening Day.

The weather is recorded. Guy wearing a 25 year old suit saying: Sunny and 74 today.

Great beer scene, but the cost of living is so spendy with the bonus of LA like traffic. I do love to visit.

I enjoy it, but it has its downsides, besides cost.

Feels like a large suburb, lots of driving.
Prob the most conservative big city, partially due to the military.
Not a ton of depth to the lifestyle. Kinda bro-y.

Life phan says, great visit tho. I'll take any biz gig there that will fly me out.

North Park/Hillcrest/OB!

Physically the highways suck, as does rush hours, but you can zip around in that town. Probably the best mass transit in California too. Arguably one of the best places on Earth.

I'm heading off the germany in a few hours. Going to visit my exchange student family from high school. I'll spend two days with them and then split the rest of the time in berlin, leipzig, and Dresden. I've never been to the latter two.

It is a bit cold, but nothing so bad that a long sleeve shirt and a heavy jacket can't handle. I miss the green though. All the parks look barren.

As long as someone's still out there selling currywurst it's a worthwhile trip.

There's a good place right beside my favorite kebap place, but I hardly ever eat there because the kebap place is the best I've ever eaten. I try to go there once a day every day I'm in Berlin. Mustafa's Gemusekebap, it's the best.

not me personally but i think a friend told me that they flew into spokane, took a train to coeur d'alene and rented a car and drove to glacier. which i think is about 4 hours away. btw... coeur d'alene or however you spell it, is one of america's hidden gems.

Flew into Missoula, stayed overnight and drove to Glacier the next day.

I have a cousin in Missoula that we stayed with so it may not be the most convenient for the general riff-raff.

Booked my tickets for the US Open at Pebble Beach with friends. Plan to hike half dome (if i can secure a permit), do San Fran a few days, and then take the long drive down the Pacific Coast Highway to San Diego. Wonder if it would be worth paying the extra $40 a day for a charger.

Sounds amazing!! Regarding the Charger, how many people would be doing the drive with you? To me the biggest appeal about the PCH is the views, and I can't imagine the back seat of a Charger being conducive to taking it all in. There are also lots of curves and will probably be a decent amount of traffic at times, so it's not like you'll be able to go wide open throttle or anything. You'll probably want to take it slow and pull off to the side at a bunch of vista points. I'd probably go with a small to mid-sized SUV.
Another day, another box of stolen pens.
