Philadelphia Restaurants: Second Seating

Philadelphia Restaurants: Second Seating

Finally made it to Lloyd. Venison sliders were very yummy, as was the hummus with beet chips. Cheese plate was just okay, in my opinion and I've had a LOT of cheese plates, although extra points for giving healthy portions of the accompaniments and actually having enough bread to handle the cheese, which almost never happens. Nothing wrong with my Michter's US-1 Bourbon or Hibaki Harmony Whisky, even though I'm not usually a fan of blends. Great whiskey list in general, though it seems like fewer top end options than, say Village Whiskey. Little odd that the server went into a long explanation of the Basil Hayden whiskey special. Okay by me, but in a place known for its whiskey you'd think they'd assume patrons were pretty familiar with the stuff. Draft beer list is also really interesting, and there are a number of cocktails I'd like to try. The Lloyd is a Miller High Life and a shot of Old Grand Dad for $5 and only $3 during happy hour. I'll save those for some time I've left my car behind, along with my hopes for a fulfilling life any time soon.

walked my ass down to Nick Cafe this weekend. christ, what have i been doing other than not going here. Had no clue the place was a bar/restaurant. Thought it was a sandwich shack like rest of the places around. So when i walked in i was pretty taken back that it was just a long bar and like 2 high top tables. That roast beef sandwich was top notch though. can't recommend it enough.

Calaca Feliz is really excellent. Umai Umai sometimes gets overlooked in the lists of best sushi places in Philly, but it shouldn't. Have to try Era-somehow thought i had to go to West Philly for Ethiopian.

Bar Hygge looks a little precious, but I haven't been there myself.

South Philly Barbacoa is worth a trip to IMO. very small menu(2 different kind of tacos and consome, and maybe tamales) that works really well. service is as good as you'll find anywhere. very charming interior. very quick to give you free tacos as well. the taste and preparation is better than you'll find anywhere else.

That's where I got tacos! It's good. I liked it.

Love Ethiopian. I'll have to try era. Maybe this weekend.

Crime and Punishment is legit. They have styles of beers Ive never heard of and can't pronounce. A little too edgy for their own good. Otherwise cool spot.

Didn't have food at Hygge. Just drank. Beer was ok. Think I'll have to go back and try tbei food.

Urban Saloon is like two blocks away so I've been there a bunch already.

Had this for the 1st time on Friday....well from the original place, there's one close to me in Delco in I guess that's Springfield. 2nd best roast beef sandwich in the area to me, the best to me is at Tom n Jerry's bar in Ridley

You've been to The Bishop's Collar on 24th n Fairmount? I've only ate there a couple times but everything I've had was pretty good. Beer selection is decent. I've drank there a bunch as my girlfriends house is down the street from it
