Pretty good deal on a Ninja!

Coffee brewer that is. Looks like an update to the model I have since there's push buttons instead of a dial for brew size.

But I took them away from all that. Now they work for me.

Target Cartwheel has 40% off a ton of different Star Wars Toys today. I loaded up (for the kids). Be careful, as many of the items didn’t scan with the discount. I had to go to customer service to get it fixed.

The secret no one tells you about vanilla

in almost every blind taste test, a decent and cheap imitation vanilla cannot be differentiated between even the most expensive vanilla

small exception is when it used in something gently cooked and even then most people can't tell the difference

The thing I notice it in the most is my stovetop soft rice custard. It may fit the exception because I don't stir in the vanilla until after it starts to cool.

exactly, so get the cheap stuff for baking and if you are doing a custard or drink with vanilla get the real stuff for that

So what's the final word? It depends on your usage patterns. If you use vanilla regularly in baked goods like cookies and cakes, there's no reason to spring for the fancy stuff, or even the real stuff—artificial extract will do just fine. If you drink a lot of nog or make uncooked ice cream bases or cold desserts like panna cotta, you might consider buying real extract. But if all you've got on hand is artificial extract? Don't worry, just add a touch of booze to the mix (a teaspoon of vodka or bourbon for every teaspoon of extract works), and you'll do just fine.

I though the secret about imitation vanilla is that it is made from a wood pulp byproduct.

It's outrageously expensive, but for something like creme brulee, go all the way and use pods.
