Not productive enough to put some damn commas in the title.

next Sunday I'm doing an organized 5K, followed by 90 minute yoga session & then 60 minute meditation setting in the Park. Namaste.

haven't run in a while so probably will be pretty slow.

Took a Beginner's Belay class on Monday night at the local rock climbing gym, then climbed again on Tuesday. Haven't been able to fully close my hands since. It was a lot of fun, though, and my class came with a two week trial membership. Looking forward to going back.

Probably makes it a little harder that I'm heavier than I've ever been, but it might be the kick start I need.

I joined a new gym a little less than a month ago. I've swam 3-4 days a week (~450 - 700m total, but not consecutive), but have yet to get in the weight room. I'm too drained to do it after swimming, and I don't want to risk taking away from the swimming by doing it before. I just need to motivate myself to doing the gym 6 out of 7 days, but that's daunting .

I barely kick as is, so that won't do much except drown me.

Gonna try. It'll get more difficult to find time once clinical rotations start, and then Baby MooDo arrives. I want to try to make it my "me" time, but feel bad about asking that of my wife.

Any tips for decreasing the amount of time my forearms feel like rocks and I can't grip anything?

I love swimming, and can't wait for my pool to reopen. Maybe just keep at swimming alone until you get so good at it, you don't feel like it'll hinder you if you hit the weights.

Or - if you barely kick, maybe just do legs in the weight room for now, and leave the upper body for swimming.

Don't go back to back days! Take REST between climbs. No one rests enough in the beginning because their bodies don't tire out on the easy climbs. The harder climbs wreck the entire body and you'll be taking 10 minute rests

I'd lift before the swimming. If your goal is weight loss, then building muscle mass (along with the cardio) will help achieve that more quickly. But you'll know when you're ready. 4-6 weeks of just cardio to start was about right for me; then I gained sufficient stamina to do both.
