Chad Ford on Darko before they drafted him. Most mock drafts had him going #2 so it wasn't a surprise at the time.

Chad Ford, ESPN Insider: He's the real deal. He's really one of a kind. He runs the floor, handles the ball, shoots the NBA 3-pointer, plays with his back to the basket, so you can slot him in at the 3, 4 or 5. What sets Darko apart is his toughness in the post. You have to love a guy who has the footwork to spin by an opponent, but still prefers to lower a shoulder and bang. Fact is, Milicic plays in attack-mode at both ends of the floor. The more you push, the more he pushes back. He's got a great frame. He'll definitely get stronger. He'll have no problem holding his own in the post.

Feel like Cody zeller and Alex Len over Nerlens is going provide similar lulz
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

with the 2nd pick, the Milwaukee Bucks select... Justus Nurfocic

TBF, Darko wasn't really a surprise at the time. 7 foot 5 wingspan, plethora of offensive moves, three point range... All those things applied to Darko and people were gushing over him.

Not comparing him to Embiid, tho...

and who knows how Darko's career plays out if he goes to your average rebuilding #2 team and has the coaches focus on him as opposed to Larry and Detroit

Larry Brown's idiotic aversion to rookies caused him to bring Lebron James off the bench and barely play him in the 2004 Olympics so it's likely he retarded Darko's career but despite playing for a while Darko had a really tepid career after he left Larry's watch.
