I'd roll with Canaan over KJ

I hope Canaan gets excommunicated by the Pope.

there is no guarantee that KJ would have re-signed and trading him was an indication that the sixers weren't going to play that game with him.

What does KJ do so well that trading him was an error?

His 66 NBA minutes since February have gone a long way to proving what an idiot Hinkie is for trading him.

he was a restricted FA so they could've matched any offer.

What would Grant get on Houston, 100? Would JaKarr break 75? We already know how many minutes they had for Covington.

Not getting minutes on Houston doesn't prove anything except he can't get minutes on Houston.

Also, Hinkie's mistake wasn't trading him, it was not budging on his first contract. The whole point of these young guys is getting them on cheap, long-term deals so they can develop more than expected and eventually become worthwhile. KJ's defense and athleticism earned him development time, and not budging on his contract robbed the Sixers of that chance.

Idiot? No. Disaster? Of course not. Mistake? Yeah, I think so.

I thought they offered him the same deal as Holmes? aka more guarenteed money than some first round picks. From what I understand KJ was just hellbent on being a free agent. And it worked out for him
Two days later I get a text back that says I'm a basketball player and a businessman, not a Thundercat.

what exactly was KJ's contract demand? in a perfect world where he got his way or at least Hinkie compromised most of his way, what is the deal? Like Mo said, i thought he was hellbent on getting a 1 year deal regardless, unless the Hinkie 4 year special was too much of a slap in the face or something.

I would have loved to keep KJ, I was on the train til the end, but oh well. Grant/Holmes is nice. Could have easily taken him with the 35th pick like you said Bod, but that pick was traded for TWO more picks, so we can further discuss this when they grab another sweet player in the future

Spike asking on twitter what a fair trade for markieff to 6ers would be... Do we even want another malcontent big for whom we'd have to find minutes? I think I'd be ok with it but you'd have to think it would cost us saric. Or maybe his value is so #$!&@ that Hollis Thompson and a couple 2nds get it done

Right?

What about b Jennings? He was going ham for svg before the injury last year and they already have Reggie Jackson now. They have kcp locked in as their starting 2 so I can't imagine he'd be anything more than a 6th man there

there's no 2nd pick coming from the KJ trade.

I'm operating from a world in which I hate Canaan, and while I acknowledge he's our 2nd best creator on offense, I think his size and lack of passing skill makes him a net negative. KJ was a burgeoning defensive stud. Getting back our conversation on the defensive identity that we've lost, I would have preferred to see KJ's ability to play good man on elite wings grow and hope his offense grew as well.

I didn't call Hinkie an idiot for the trade so spare me the lemming behavior please.

I'm watching Greg Oden on World One Sports play for Jiangsu. He just got boxed out for a board and fouled but other than that he doesn't look bad. I could see him making it back to the States tbh.

not a 2nd pick from the KJ trade, two separate picks from their own #35. just snowballing future 2nds.

and often times your takes seem ill timed or out or context. you are on some crusade. the world is not against you pal, we are all in this 2gether

I'm on a crusade? jesus. sorry you perceive that but it's really not true. Sixer fans are so sensitive that you can't point out reality without being subject to scorn. it's really made me think sports homerism is a really pathetic personality trait.
