If the Sixer's end up with 1st overall pick and get Ben Simmons - then what? Do they trade Okafor - does Okafor only get traded if Embiid is playing and healthy?

Ike Reese was trying to float this idea of trading to LA for the 3rd pick if they had it - but some Basketball expert guy said that there wasn't enough differentiation between guards and 3's from 3rd pick to 9th pick-ish?

There are examples of multi-big men working.

David Robinson and Tim Dunacn
Elvin Hayes and Wes Unseld
Akeem and Ralph Sampson (for a time)

if Nerlens is closer to Mutumbo - a shot blocker, defender -- there's always room for that guy whether starting or off bench.

I don't like the lottery honestly. Never have.

Colangelo and Hink talking about trade deadline, the draft, free agency, trades. Colangelo seems to think this draft is guard heavy - which probably is coming from Hinkie and the Sixer scouts.

here's an awesome thing about Okafor: he scores from both sides of the basket very well, though he does seem to favor the left side a bit more.

Image

Embiid seems to favor the left side of the court much more heavily

so Embiid runs to the left side of the basket, Okafor to the right side of the basket, Simmons brings the ball up at the top of the key and has Hollis/Nik/Canaan camped out around 3 point land.

spacing ok?

not trying to be negative, but there would be nowhere for Simmons to drive that a help defender won't be right there and whichever of the bigs he passes to will be facing a very crowded lane with 2 or even 3 defenders since Simmons doesn't seem like he'll have much gravity himself. maybe they'll all be such sublime passers that they can make it work but having Saric or Covington in there instead drawing their man out and letting Simmons and Embiid/Okafor play the two man game with some space seems like a better bet to me

nah dude, he's too religious for that

he talks about his favorite cereal. Jah and Embiid go back and forth on the merits of cocoa krispies

McConnell has improved his free throw rate a bit from the 0.0% of the first two months.

He's now 7th lowest in the NBA for guys with over 900 minutes:

Pat Patterson .034
Doug McDermott .058
Patrick Mills .061
Tayshaun Prince .068
Danny Green .075
Tony Snell .094
Terrence Ross .096
TJ MCCONNELL .096
Meyers Leonard .099
JR Smith .104

LOL at Meyers Leonard being on that list. Guy is 7'1 250

Dunc;d On Podcast discusses Atlantic trade deadline preview.

They expect no big moves for the Celtics

They expect the Raptors to stick with DeRozen and go for #2 seed, possibly trade their pick for a piece or do a small potatoes move to get a rotation player for the playoffs

Brooklyn - try to trade Joe Johnson, when everyone says no just cut him, same for one or two others. Find a diamond in the rough to give playing time to. Listen to all offers. Play for next year, even without your pick, because this is your situation.

Knicks - #$!&@ 'em, I zoned out on this part.

SIXERS - $3 million under the cap, going to fill that up and be part of a trade with a team like the Clippers/Heat/Bulls that want to lower their cap hit. Probably won't take on salary for next year. Thinks things have changed a bit with Colangelo, won't trade a guy like Covington who is outplaying their contract since they are probably looking to get better.

Nerlens would be the other guy, but they aren't making a decision between Jah and him just yet. Not the right time to move him. Nate brought up Chicago or Orlando as a possibility for Nerlens, but Sixers probably don't want to trade him. Orlando isn't a great match for them since their players are a step below Nerlens except maybe Gordon or Hezjona.

Discuss all the picks we have. SWAPS AND PROTECTIONS. So many options. Said there isn't as much of a roster crunch as we think because a lot of guys we'd easily dump next year (Hollis, Jakarr, Landry, Stauskas). Good possibility of standing pat and seeing what 1st rounders we get next year.

i agree it's not a roster crunch but people get attached. people have their favorites. i think jakarr can be a player if he ever learns to shoot outside 3 feet.

two full years on the team (knock on wood) is an eternity compared to a lot of recent Sixers

Grant has the same problem but more upside, imo

Stauskas/Thompson/Canaan should be interesting. Slight edge to Hollis for defense?

Hollis has performed the best but Canaan has the most confidence. Tough call. Guess we'll have to go off the 2nd half of this season. i think we may only see 1 of these guys next season. Maybe Stauskas' guaranteed contract makes the difference?
