I think Okafor was more circumstantial than predictive

Every team has money, but none has as little committed as we do. I'm cool with overpaying a stabilizing presence like Bazemore or Clarkson, which won't really preclude any other moves anytime soon

while I'm optimistic that things will go well, they're in a way tougher spot than you want to acknowledge. regarding free agency, they'll probably have to pay Bazemore or Crabbe something like 4/70 to come here, which is insane, but that's the likely market when you're the laughingstock of the league and everyone has cap space. for Clarkson, you're talking max contract. trading Okafor or Nerlens won't be easy; we have zero leverage and they're both one-way players. regarding the draft, we still have to hope everything works out and even if we get the Lakers pick, there's no stud two-way guards to be had

it's just not an easy path to short-term improvement from here. I think Hinkie is pretty good at trading and stuff so here's hoping he can pull it off

I hear ya. TBF though it sounds like they could have had the Nets pick for Okafor. Which would not have represented much squandered value if any

This path isn't easy, but the one we were on pre-Hinkie was roadblocked imo

Well we got 1 lottery pick last year were getting 3-4 this year.

i was kind of expecting the process to ramp up last offseason too though with the This Starts Now stuff, but the main problem was the Embiid injury shifting the plan around. Still, it left them a good alternative to play it safe, kick the can down the road, and load up in one fell swoop. The picks not conveying last year added to it, so they stepped back and Hinkie stripped it down, no vets, mystery PG committee. They'll still have assets rolling in after this year, but I don't see how they can kick the can for one more year. It probably does start now. This whole year was one big giant delay

We are? Do you mean adding Saric, our 1st pick and Embiid back?

I think a return to 20-25 wins and only being terrible on one side of the ball is about all we can expect next year. if that's "Tank over!," fair enough, I don't mean to belabor semantics or force negativity

what would be really nice would be ending the season with three starters you expect to be starters again in 2017-18

I had a meeting at the Pentagon with lots of generals. They were like from a movie. Better looking than Tom Cruise & stronger.
