Jack Bauer is just what is needed right now, especially since he isn't doing a whole lot on 24.

i thought that might have happened. he came up in trade discussions last year when he was with the rangers
''I don't know what was harder - that (Phillies lineup) or the All-Star team lineup,'' Haren said.

Good signing. He is certainly worth a minor league deal. Wish he threw a little harder, but he knows how to pitch.

Rick Bauer stats

Bauer was a well-used reliever last season, when he was 3-1 with a 3.55 ERA in 58 games. But he struggled in five spring games, allowing 19 hits and 11 earned runs (15.63 ERA) over 6 1-3 innings.

Why not just go storm Normandy and get shot in the face while you're at it
Why not get a plumbing license and run around high on shrooms stealing peoples' pocket change

Wow, his stats from last year look pretty good. Hopefully he can find his rhythm again and help the big club here. Definitly worth the minor league deal.

I guess he doesn't have to call Cole for advice anymore.

Outside of Ks, it's amazing how close his major and minor league numbers are.

Gillick is basically at the "throwing #$!&@ at the wall and see what sticks" phase with this bullpen, isn't he?

Minor league deal pending a physical so I say: "No."

The Rangers have five ex-Phillies. With Castro and Dellucci no longer around, the Phillies only have three (Eaton, Moyer, Barajas) ex-Rangers.

Hey everyone, guess who drafted Bauer for the Orioles in 1997? Pat Gillick!

Speaking of ex-Phillie Texas guys, look at what today's starter for the Rangers did today:

http://www.comcast.net/sports/mlb/score ... 0406/54978

He walked 3 and only struck out 1 in 7 IP. But he also allowed only two hits.
