Myers to close
Manuel admits that when Gordon went home during ST, he was hurt, it wasn't just a routine check-up

Also, Shane was pissed about not starting

Not sure what this means overall, but it seems Salisbury was trying to make much more of a story that was really there. Consider me shocked.

Myers better be Eric Gange lights out for the next three years and then tear a tendon in his arm and never pitch again because he is gone after that anyway.

Would be nice of them to put him on the DL before he blew a bunch of games.

also
Victorino, who wasn't happy about not starting the game,

he doesn't have any quotes about this, but who the hell would Victorino be to complain? at least he doesn't get subbed for every 7th inning.

It wouldn't surprise me if Garcia is hurt as well.

Well, there's this quote elsewhere about not starting.

"I'm a switch-hitter. That's how I look at it," Victorino said. "Hopefully, down the road, this won't be happening. It's [Manuel's] decision, but I want to play every day. I want to be in there for all 162 games."

only his first year as a starter and he expects to be in there all the time?

I would say the Victorino thing is a non-story. I'm sure Werth would say he'd like to play every day, too, if you asked him.

Let's hope Madson's resurrection is not an illusion, because that's a pretty thin bullpen now.

Has Madson been pitching well lately? I've missed the weekday games the last two weeks

very well.

courtesy of the good fight

Here's what the current reliever corps has done, man by man, from April 11 through May 1:

Madson: 10.2 IP, 8 hits, 1 run, 0 BB, 7 K: 0.84 ERA, 0.75 WHIP

Victorino, who wasn't happy about not starting the game,

he used a double negative to emphasize the point. that's good journalism.

Not to nitpick, but I don't think that is a double negative. The wasn't is referring to his happiness and the not is referring to his starting. I think a double negative has to refer to the same word. I am not saying that isn't a good way to write, but I don't think isn't bad either.

Pinning your hopes on a 39 year-old with 818 career appearances was risky? I'll be damned.

I don't read that Victorino quite as being pissy. That is a pretty standard reply isn't it? Don't all position players want to play 162 games? He isn't saying he expects to play in them all or deserves to play in them all, he just wants to.

When he was sent back to Philly in March, did anyone REALLY believe it was for a "routine exam"?
