I believe they are televising the draft for the first time ever this year.
''I don't know what was harder - that (Phillies lineup) or the All-Star team lineup,'' Haren said.

It was rumored to have been discussed at the winter meetings where they'd show the 1st and 2nd rounds, with a little extra time in between to talk about the players.......basically what they do for the NHL one that's simulcast from TSN to ESPN.....

It was being discussed like what ED said, with two stations. TBS or ESPN.

so a draft that famously has GMs reading the paper while their teams are making selections will now be the center of a cable television special?

Can't they just show World's Strongest Man or paintball instead?

So the Phillies are getting a 1st round pick (19th overall), a 1st round sandwich pick for Dellucci (37th overall), a 2nd round pick (81st overall), a 3rd round pick for Dellucci (105th overall) and our regular 3rd round pick (111th overall) in the first three rounds? That's the most that we have had in years. (Let me know if my numbers are off)

Remember the 2003 draft, where we didn't even START drafting until the 3rd round (because of thome and dave bell)?

Here's the draft order for 2007 from baseballamerica.com:

Pick Team
1. Tampa Bay Devil Rays
2. Kansas City Royals
3. Chicago Cubs
4. Pittsburgh Pirates
5. Baltimore Orioles
6. Washington Nationals
7. Milwaukee Brewers
8. Colorado Rockies
9. Arizona Diamondbacks
10. San Francisco Giants
11. Seattle Mariners
12. Florida Marlins
13. Cleveland Indians
14. Atlanta Braves
15. Cincinnati Reds
16. Texas Rangers
17. Houston Astros
18. St. Louis Cardinals
19. Philadelphia Phillies
20. Boston Red Sox
21. Toronto Blue Jays
22. Los Angeles Dodgers
23. San Diego Padres
24. Los Angeles Angels
25. Chicago White Sox
26. Oakland Athletics
27. Detroit Tigers
28. Minnesota Twins
29. New York Mets
30. New York Yankees
* This is a listing of the draft order, not a listing of the first round which has been modified by free agent signings.

2nd round: 81st overall
3rd round: (for Dellucci from Indians): 105th overall
3rd round: 111th overall

Why not just go storm Normandy and get shot in the face while you're at it
Why not get a plumbing license and run around high on shrooms stealing peoples' pocket change

Pay an Oakland Assistant GM to sneak to the phone and pick a 17 year old toolsy no-walking high school kid with their first pick.

Just found this site, which could knock down our picks even lower after our first two picks if Wells signs or Diamondbacks Max Scherzer (2006 pick who has not signed) still doesn't sign, so my pick numbers will probably be lower (Wells, Scherzer, Villone, Schoeneweis, Mulder, Park could make it 6 picks lower)

Scherzer will sign, probably a "BIG PELF deal" sometime in January or February.
